When you search “interesting things to do in Bryan/College Station,” you’ll probably find the Bush Presidential Library, Santa’s Wonderland and the GI Museum (bonus points if Kyle Field comes up). While these sites are certainly tried and true, there’s a LOT more to this area than these landmarks. Next time your family or friends come into town, be sure to visit one of these interesting places!

1. Brazos Valley Farmer’s Market: 500 N Main St, Bryan, TX 77803

There are only seven Master Beekeepers in Texas, and one of them comes to sell creamed honey at our farmer’s market! The consistency is like spreadable butter, and it comes in different seasonal flavors (I’ve tried the raspberry, original and the orange and would 10/10 recommend).

Aside from the bees, there’s a women-owned coffee truck, a pizza truck (whose bestseller is a breakfast pizza with a freshly cracked egg and pesto), many local farmers who sell home-grown produce,  bakers and cooks. The place to go for interesting finds! Happens every Saturday morning.

2. Kinda Candid Selfie Museum: 909 Harvey Rd., Suite C, College Station, TX 77845

We’ve all taken the traditional Aggie photos in front of the 12th Man and by the Alumni Association ring statue, but this museum is the epitome of Instagram-able. It’s open every day of the week.

3. Primrose Path and Republic Steakhouse: 701 University Dr E, College Station, TX 77840

Vegetarians and vegans, don’t tune out, I’ve got you! Both of these establishments are run by the same manager, with a comprehensive wine selection and professional chefs. These two establishments share a building, and music is curated for each room. There’s a secret room in the center of the building construction modeled after a speakeasy available for bookings. If you eat here, be sure to ask the manager for a tour of the establishment!

4. La Salle Restaurant and Hotel: 120 S Main St, Bryan, TX 77803

This hotel used to be a theater and opera house, is rumored to be where Elvis (yes, THE Elvis) stayed once on tour, and still runs the 5 Knocks Speakeasy out of its basement (think Prohibition-era, with comedy nights, a piano bar and even burlesque). Downtown Elixirs and Spirits has won awards for their cocktails.

5. Athletic and Outdoor entertainment:

You can go rock climbing (the Rec), ice skating (Spirit Ice Arena), paintballing (Zoomz) or trampoline jumping (Urban Air). There are also numerous parks in the area, such as Midtown, Hensel, John Crompton and Lick Creek. Surrounding these parks, many residents have built Little Free Library book exchanges; it’s like a treasure hunt to find them all!

I didn’t even mention all of the museums, the secret disc golf courses, the numerous coffee shops (like 1541 and La Gabriella’s), and eateries like C&C Asian Garden, Maama’s African Kitchen, and Fusion Peru! To find other interesting things to do in this part of Brazos County, visit the City of College Station’s website.
